”Användarna” (The Users) became the largest journalistic investigation in to the dark world of net paedophiles in Sweden. It was a cooperation with norwegian tabloid Verdens Gang, which had earlier published the well known net paedophile investigation ”Nedlasterne” (The Downloaders), by Håkon Höydal and Einar Otto Stangvik. Four swedish journalists (two from SvD and two from Aftonbladet) were given the norwegian data and started to hunt and confront swedish net paedophiles. A large project was set in motion, which lasted several months before publication. 72 net paedophiles were tracked in Sweden, 30 of them confronted with hidden cameras and via phone. The investigation was a large success in Sweden and led to changed laws, giving children better protection. Jani Pirttisalo Sallinen (Svenska Dagbladet) and Joachim Kerpner (Aftonbladet) are at NODA2018 to talk about the impact, journalistic cooperation and methods used to handle the very sensitive data.
