Unfortunately, Derek Willis of ProPublica is stuck in the States due to a passport problem . But we are proud to present Fergus Bell for he opening key address of NODA 2018! He was working together with Derek with the ground-breaking collaborative project Electionland , one of the largest social newsgathering operations ever performed over the course of one day. More than 600 journalism students and experienced journalists monitored social media for any kind of indicator of voter suppression on 8 November 2016. In this session Fergus will talk about how it was set-up, managed and carried out and share the lessons learned along the way. He'll also talk about how the work has inspired further collaborative projects including initiatives around elections in the US, UK, Sweden and Mexico.
(Derek will join us through a videolink in MB416 at 12:20!)
